my biography

In case, dear Mi7 artist, you arrive here, first, I am really HE. But I'm using this space to highlight the collaborative efforts between myself and other empathetic Mi7 souls, rather than my solo pursuits, also to be found on ARTIE Q’s page. I am featured, as well, on MonAmi’s page, and though Mr. Woods is not an active Mi7 member, he is with us in spirit.
All my very best wishes to all you Mi7 folk who collaborate with one another across the wires. This is an amazing time to be alive; this kind of communication and creative endeavour was unheard of twenty years ago. We are so lucky to have this opportunity; we are so lucky to have Mi7. Good luck—Tear it up, Boys & Girls! RTQ
Ps. Tracks 'Rain' & 'Wherever' are also to be found on this cd.
By the by, as new songs are uploaded, the old will be featured elsewhere: "ON THE BEACH" & "WHEREVER YOU GO" are now to be found on my MonAmi page.

ARTIE Q: Finally...
The Extended Single Mix of BEAUTIFUL MONSTER can be listened to on my Artie Q page or the whole 17 minute single (featuring Remixes by them WI: RE Boys—CLAAS REIMER & MINDMOVIE) are available for digital download, here

Also available is the very fine piece of work by the THREE BALD A DUDES

Title: DREAM9 (I'LL BE WHO I WANT TO BE)
Rt_n_bro_hsepia
Description: Description:POP ©2008 So, the irrepressible HIROTO-SAN/HUMANOISE/BRO' H sends me a track called HAL-SPRING, and wants to collaborate. Well, the original 53 minutes of song is a little long for poor ol' Artie Q; I mean, I'm a pop merchant, am I not? OK, so no problem, I like HAL SPRING. It feels like nature growing, plants and animals stirring from hibernation: A feeling of Awakening. I can work with a small sample of it. The postive nature of Humanoise reminded me of a set of lyrics I have had floating around for a while. It was the perfect opportunity to paint a picture of being strong in the face of a tide of negativity. Something I know, all too well. All I needed were a few chord changes and melodies. Oh yeah, and, of course, the wonderful guitar of Laurence Whiteley. Catch the inimitable HUMANOISE, here @ Mi7 http://community2.mi7.com/profile/10643 Yeehah, Bro H!
Title: (I CAN'T BE SURE BUT I THINK) I LOVE YOU-Originally BLONDIE'S RETURN
Embrace
Enrolled in contest: Micro-Phones (vote for me!)
Description: POP ©2008 Collaboration with MINDMOVIE (http://community.mi7.com/profile/5503) Was known as BLONDIE'S RETURN by Mr. M, but that was before I got hold of it. When I did get hold of it, wasn't sure I could sing this kind of music. Loved the track, but I felt it needed one of those blues/soul/jazzy types—you know who I mean. Right, Mi7ers? ... you pick your man or woman. Well, my only way in, was to add a couple of chorus chords (to distinguish it from the rest of the track), and make it 'pop'-y. So I finished the song, sent it to Mr M, and we both forgot about it for five months. Supposedly. Well, the fantabulously newly wedded Mrs. Q was hanging with her man ("Erhm," that would be me, Mr. Q) the other night, and just went bonkers over this track. (You can read about her fantastic-ly sordid behaviour on my blog.) Besides, the "5 LOST MONTHS" and those chorus chords of mine, the other truly amazing thing to me is that EVERYTHING on this track is played by one man. It sounds just like how a band would interact musically, were there six guys jamming. Amazing! And without further Ta Da's, "Here Comes That Man (the Flaming Bess Hombre who's married to Mrs. Mindmovie) ... Mr. M."
Title: THE BIRTHING
Me_n_im
Description: POP ©2008. A Collaboration with MINDMOVIE ..."YES, Boys & Girls, The Man, The Flaming Bess Legend known as 'Mindmovie'—The Winner of competitions far and wide; The Holder of The Duende Whatnot Thingamajig machine that takes his music compositions to even greater heights; The Musician who's been playing guitar 35 years but it's not that important to him anymore, he's more into production and songs; The Dude who makes employees @ the Hallowed Mi7 Halls tremble in their boots when he asks a technical question (like, 'where's my f**ckin' prize, dude?' for example), has deigned to bestow a musical ‘crumb’ on a previous fellow collaborator, My Mi7 Collabs ('erhm,' that would be me, folks) ... and this is what they have produced: THE BIRTHING.” There is a life and death struggle at the start of existence; it is called Birth. This is one male's or it could very easily be one female's story. (Only after a certain point in the tale, that is, of course.) Lyrics on my blog. Nice one, Achim!
Title: FALLING
Falling
Description: POP ©2008 An old man surveys a "sea" of graves; they belong to his fallen comrades from a war long ago. He ponders why he survived and they didn’t. In the song, he returns to his youth and the horrors of the battlefield. It was not “faith” that kept his hopes alive in the heat of battle, but the thought of seeing his beloved, again. Though he survives, one image is forever etched in his memory: Falling Down ... Getting Up and Falling Down. A collaboration with Jef De Corte. (The very wonderful Aeronaut, of course.) Illustration by Jef De Corte. More on my blog. Check out Jef's page, here on Mi7, http://community.mi7.com/profile/4750
Title: IN THE RAIN
S_times_another_pic
Enrolled in contest: Micro-Phones (vote for me!)
Description: POP ©2008 Mix #14,023. Collaboration with the very wonderful AUDIOTECHNICA (AT — http://community.mi7.com/profile/7728) and the equally wonderful LAURENCE WHITELEY (UK Blues Guitarist). Guitar solo @ end, Lister Coleman. This was quite a back and forth operation. My admiration of AT’s talents are well documented. If you’re interested you can read further, on AUDIOTECHNICA's page. (Blogs) My last word on the matter is in the form of a quote.“ ‘Ee’s a lovely man, that audiotechnica; though, he’ll try ‘n tell you he ain’t!”

Hi Mr Q,

I have been lately busy with my work projects, so not much activity in making music. Hopefully that situation will change soon.

And yeah, that's me playing the piano in Now and Then. By the way, your collaboration with the creative Audiotechnica sounds like it could do well in the competition...

Hey, artie!!!!
I was just listening to your songs!
Thanks for your blog on MySpace.
Are you not going to upload DREAM9 to there ?
I want to do it but your file size bigger for MySpace I think...
And also the sounds qualities aren't good than before on MySpace, not just mine I feel..

Hope your collaborations going well.

MATA-AIMASYOU, Bro' !!!!!
PEACE.

Hey RT,

thanks for the message.
What I try with the relics pieces is that they don't reveal all their secrets at a first listening. The last days I have been working on nr IV. All the Relics pieces are started as (much simpler) piano pieces.

I hope our "Dreams" and "Beautiful Monster" show up on iTunes soon.

Hi again!

I must agree with you, at first I put the piano pieces together as a chance to display more songs as there’s a five song upload limit, but now the pieces has kind of merged together to form this suite. They get along quite well! Probably the piano pieces should be just as they are, solo piano is quite “pure”, but I like them so I also want to develop them. But I don’t know in what direction yet.

Take care friend!
Simon

Hi RT,

thanks for stopping by! How are you?

What an unexpected, yet wonderful collaboration with Humanoise on "Hal Spring"! Fantastic lyrics, uplifting feeling. Congratulations to you both!

I'm really happy that you like my piano pieces. Which one do you enjoy the most?

Maybe one of my piano pieces should expand into a song...

Hey RT,

Karin and I really look forward to meet you some day.

I had some older Relics versions on VIRB, but I am looking for a way to showcase more music without having to manage all those different profiles. MI7 and Myspace is more than enough for me...

have a great weekend with the lovely mrs Q

Thanks very much for your encouraging comment. Sorry to inform you that the vocal part was a sample from a sample library. I am not able to sing practically anything :-).

In any case, very nice collaborative track with Humanoise here (which I already commented to Humanoise) and also with other MI7 collaborators. Your great voice is so recognizable in all the tracks.

Be seeing you,
Pegasus
