On The Wind - international versions
I am setting up a new myspace page for an international collaboration on my song "On The Wind", which includes also people from mi7.
You can read more about it on www.myspace.com/onthewindint. If you are interested to participate in this project you can contact me here at mi7 or at myspace.
The new profile for this project I did with Artie Q and Mindmovie is now online. Please visit us over there and listen to the 20 minutes piece in 5 parts. Click the image to go to the page. Another collaboration, and friendship born here on mi7!
What I love the most in music is composing. I play piano and keyboard and I write all my compositions in Logic Studio. I play some of the parts on my keyboard, but often I compose directly in the score or matrix editor of the sequencer. I am try to get deeper and deeper into arranging and programming for virtual orchestra. I use the Vienna Symphonic Library, Halion Symphonic Orchestra and some East West libraries for that. I am now recording songs with Ann Van Canegem, a delightfull and talented vocalist, who really brings life and emotion into my music. Ann performs with her blues/jazz band Red Rooster, and with other jazz players.
I am also an experienced illustrator/graphic designer (actually that's what I do to earn a living...). If someone needs graphic designs for cd-covers etc... feel free to contact me! If you want to hear and read more about my music projects please visit my page on myspace.
Ann also has a myspace page with jazz, blues and songs from our collaboration. Check it out here. Visit Ann's page on MI7 here.
Description: Another one of my Relics pieces. I wrote this piece on an evening last week, but the final programming took me many hours longer. As always I used Vienna Symphonic Library for the programming of the orchestra.
The piano is the Bechstein from East West.
Description: This song was free download, and I wrote it as a new year's present for my friends. It can still be downloaded from the E&F player on my MI7 and Myspace page (www.myspace.com/aeronautsounds)
Description: Dutch adaptation of "On the wind" by Diana.
I wrote a new arrangement with woodwinds for this version. For more information, visit my "On the wind" myspace page at www.myspace.com/onthewindint
Description: Many thanks to my dear friend Mindmovie for lending me his ear during the work in progress and supplying me with very helpful feedback. He opened my eyes for new directions with this piece...
I had to use a lower bitrate (160 kbps) to get this almost 8' piece uploaded.
Title: In The Light Of The Sun
Description: “In The Light Of The Sun” is a song that is very dear to me. The song is about the passing of time, and how insignificant a human life is compared to cosmic scales.
I wrote the basic melody a long time ago (in human terms at least...) on my very first piano when I was about seventeen. Over the years I kept playing this piano tune and a few years ago I turned it into this song.
Like all my songs it has a certain sadness in it, although I don’t consider it as a sad song.
It is more a song about acceptance, letting go and humility.
It begins with a person who tries to hold on to a lost loved one, smelling the fading scent in his clothes and dwelling into her memories.
But, eventually - like everything - the scent will fade away. The memories of our memories will dissolve into time, “and all that we are is a speck of dust dancing in the light of the sun”. While I wrote this song I often had the image of particles of dust dancing in the sunlight shining through an attic window.
I wrote the backbone of this song with the guitars, harp and vibraphone ticking away time like a clockwork. Over this I wrote a waltz, like the dancing particles of dust in the light of the sun.
Again, Ann did a great job on the vocals and her voice makes the song shine like a sun...
Philip Glass, Peter Hammill, Peter Gabriel, Schubert, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Puccini, Pink Floyd, Nicholas Lens, The Beatles, JS Bach, Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, Barclay James Harvest, Nick Drake, Tim Buckley...Just to name a few, there are simpy too many.
But maybe I am influenced the most by my lovely wife, Karin Wauters, a talented ceramist.
"Dreams are buried here..." is available from the following download stores:
thanks for stopping by for a listen. Happy that you liked "Moor"! I'm very fond of the melody and the feeling in that piece (even though the arrangement could use some work).
And Relics VII - WOW!!! Amazing track, there you've really got love and loss at the same time!!! At 3:48 I'm blown away! Wish I could do strings like that... These Relics-pieces is just getting better and better!
It seems that both you and me got that medieval melancholy feeling at the same time!!!
