my biography

Hello, my name is Doghouse Riley. I'm shore you thank you already know everthang there is worth knowin about me due to my world-wide-supra-stardomhood. Wail, don't be so dang sure. Cause like my ol pal Walt used to say, "I am large, I contain multitudes". I ain't lyin junior.

my sounds

Title: The Silence is Deafening
Alone
Description: Tortured, Twisted and full of self-loathing...hope you enjoy
Title: Can't Say No
Buster_1
Description: Wail, this here little gal sounded drunk to me when I first heard her a cappella track. And ifn there's anythang I can appreicate in this ol world it's a drunk girl. So I ran up some music fer her. Get out yor hankies tho. It's plum pitiful. Not "the little girl gets bit by the terrible snake" pitiful. But almost. ps: I didn't have no "song art" so I put up a picture of my boy "Buster" instead. He's the one who looks like Charlie Chaplin. Honest. And, no, that ain't me in there with him.
Title: As If By Magic
Bookerchinlock
Description: Do me a favor, will ya? Don't go tellin them fellers who call themselves "Coast to Coast" over here about this here magnum opus as I sorta stole their lead sanger from em and showed him how the cow ate the cabbage. And guess what? He liked it! Besides I come from the famous (and infamous) "Third Coast" so I'm entitled. Or am I? Anywhoo ya might wanna partake of it as Frank (Carter, I just call him Frank)can really, honest-to-goodness, with his very own vocal chords. . .sing. I ain't lyin, junior. So welcome to Jimmy V's where on tonight's card Stevie Wonder and Carlos Santanna go head to head in a Texas Lights Out Chain-link Cage No Holds Barred Two Men Enter Only One Man Leaves Wrassssslin Match. Let's get ready to rumble, shall we?
Title: Beautiful Dreamer
Addict
Description: Wail, like about leventy jillion others, I did a couple a mixes fer ol CalGal over at ccmixter. Here's one she found particularly unappealin that, I thank, deals with a heroin addict fallin off the wagon in a major way. I didn't see no babies crawlin on the ceilin or nothin when I was makin it so I cain't really be sure. Maybe you folks can figure it out. And yea, for the truly esoteric navel gazers, that there is a Mellotron in the choruses. Or is it?
Title: The Dancing Bear
Dancing_bear
Description: Pardon me when I say that I thank music should be organic. No, not in a crazy-vegan-won't-even-wear-leather-shoes-let-alone-eat-a-pork-rib-slathered-in-bar-b-q-sauce kinda way. But it should have a life all it's own. At least as I see it. Now this here little ditty ya can thank ol Loveshadow for. Honest. He basically told me to shut up and put somethin up. So I ran this one up last Sunday. It started out as a spy thang called MI7 (which I figured is two better than MI5). But then, as usual, thangs got outta hand. It turned Ruskie on me. Mrs. Doghouse, whom you may know I actually refer to as "The Bear" said it sounded like "Henry Mancini had three of Doghouse's martinis." And that's about right. So for LS, my Bear and the Ruskies, here tis. Hope ya enjoy.

Lots of good stuff! I've always listened to your music and read your posts with great interest, but I've never dared to say hello as I figured we'd be running into some serious language problems:)

Hello Mr Doghouse, good stuff you have here. You have the ability to find the real substance of the vocal tracks...in a personal way...in the Doghouse way. I especially liked the groove of the "As if by magic".

Hey, look- I guess he "Can't Say No" to reminding us he's still alive and kickin'! Stretch them legs around some more, it'll do all of us some good...

Hey Dawg Hahse - you know I've never been the same since that gig we did at the Hoo-Haw Club - when I sang Hieroglyphs of Love and got the hiccups ... but thats okay since my voice has been permanently plumdoodled 'cause of throat-singing. All that aside- nice to discover your pagette here. Love that "Beautiful Dreamer" - kinda like the Green Tara meets S. Foster in the Netherworld.

Whar bist, Dougie?

'Tis not the same since ye stopped calling. And writing. And leaving little droppings on the porch.

What?? Is that you, Labcoat? I cain't here nothin. My ears is rangin somethin awful. Speak up, will ya!
member image colab | about 1 year ago
Toot your own horn? Well, OK - I'll give you that. You're not really a horn-tooter. In fact, you're more of an anti-tootite.

Oh, and your new tracks are good. How good? Pretty darn good. I don't really share your love for the crash cymbals - must be a third coast thing - but these two new tracks are pretty darn slick.

Umm. I take that previous comment back. Just noticed your tracks over at ccmixter. Shame on me for calling you lazy; but shame on you for not advertising it better, so I'll just have to do it for you.

Everyone - head over to http://ccmixter.org/media/people/Doghouse and listen to Dougie's tracks. The Calendargirl track is just outstanding.

Umm. Yep. And that will have to be that for now.

HAH! Thought you were safe over here, didn't ya! Nope. I just had to flap on over here to see what's cookin', apparently there's a whole bunch of familiar faces over here... Oh yeah, those are real nice tracks, by the way.
member image colab | about 1 year ago
Hey Dougie. Thanks for your comment - you're a good kid, nevermind what others say.
Now get working on more materials. Lazy bum.

Nice modern Blue Note feel on this tune, hey I hope the crack hasn't spread to good 'ol Mayberry yet, has it? I trust that's what you were just telling Colab about, right?
member image Doghouse Riley | about 1 year ago
That's crack"ro"head there, Labcoat. Ain't nobody been called a crackerhead in these parts, well, ever (it's just plain cracker. . .crackheads live over in Mt. Pilot where they got a diner AND a fillin station. And a clever sorta what? Flibbity-jibbit? Or Brainiac? It makes a damn differnce ya know.
member image colab | about 1 year ago
Ahh. Just listening to this new track of yours here. You must think you're a pretty clever sort, don't you?
No, wait; that's not right. _I_ think you're a pretty clever sort. Pretty damn talented too.
Yeah. You heard me right. Now what are you going to _do_ about it, huh?
You crackerhead.

Thank ya kindly, Joe. And I heartily encourage ya to have another martini. Hell, I know I am. And everybody please forgive me but in my dang haste to finally get this thing up I didn't get my ol fade out quite right. I wanted it longer, a course. But then I thought, who gives a rats ass? And guess what my answer was?
member image TheJoe | about 1 year ago
HeyHo Doghouse Riley!

Wow, that´s something different as your known work on RWR. What a pleasant uptempo jazzy/funky tune. Amazing production with a very pro sound.

If I could dance, I would do so, but probably I will have another Martini while listening to this opus! ;-)
